Do not stay here. I signed the lease because I received 5 weeks free, but I cannot emphasize enough how much I regret it. The management is horrific. They will go weeks without returning calls and without picking up the phone at all. When I moved in, the apartment had obviously not been thoroughly cleaned as there were crumbs in the drawers, the oven was filthy, the bedroom smelled like a dog, and there was a cockroach infestation in the kitchen. It took 4 MONTHS to get rid of the roaches... completely. I had a broken refrigerator for 2 weeks, and the office did not pick up any of my daily phone calls for that entire two weeks. I finally found an emergency number on the leasing office door, which I called to complain to about not having a working refrigerator for two weeks (on the emergency maintenance issues list was broken refrigerators), but she told me this wasn't an emergency issue (but it was listed as one) and then angrily hung up on me. There has been a revolving door of maintenance workers (who are all great and do the best they can), so there are obviously management issues that are causing them to quit or stop showing up to work.
Another thing is the leasing agent over the phone told me the apartment had hardwood floor when it is actually a rubber linoleum that looks like wood, so keep that in mind too. There is a broken light in the hallway that apparently is unfixable, and the bathroom outlet only works when the bathroom light is turned on. The final straw is that the water is shut off at least once per month. In December or January the water was shut off three weekends in the month and sometimes for multiple days at a time. Do not stay here unless you literally cannot afford anywhere else.
Also, this is probably obvious to San Diego natives, but this complex is not in La Jolla. It is in University City, an ugly industrial-like neighborhood outside UCSD. La Jolla is only a couple miles west, but it is like night and day. All the reviews here saying that this is the best apartment complex in La Jolla are obviously fake because La Jolla is one of the most beautiful cities in California, and this place is a dump.
